Would the United States Naval Academy rather see consistency (high grades, good amount extracurricular activities and athletics, and excellent standardized tests) or large improvement throughout high school (low grades, low amount of extracurricular activities and athletics, and low standardized test scores in the beginning of high school, but was inspired by the Academy and improved to have high grades, good amount extracurricular activities and athletics, and excellent standardized tests during the middle and end of high school)?

USNA would “rather” see …start out strong and end stronger. The better becoming the best. This one’s simple, easy to figure. They love seeing habitual outstanding motivation resulting in exceptional effort and results. And there are tons of young folks exhibiting such who don’t even make the grade.

The notion of the “late bloomer” is not total anomaly, but it is the exceptional exception @ USNA.
