Would Washu SUmmer Scholars help me become a shoe in?

If I choose to attend the high school summer scholars program at WashU, will it give me a tremendous boost if I am pretty good student (rank- top five percent, 30 ACT) and strong ECs?

I'm thinking about applying to WashU as ED...so say if I attend sumemr scholars and do ED, would i most likely get in?

Attending would have virtually no effect on your acceptance decision IMHO.

Well from what I understand, WashU greatly values interest so wouldnt I be really showing interest if I choose to attend the program?

No, not really.

Also… it’s “shoo in,” not “shoe in.”

It won’t have any bearing on your application. The only reason to attend summer programs is because of a strong interest in the subject or an interest in the experience.

Well it won’t hurt. It will look better on your application than sitting around doing nothing.

Also, shoo-in is hyphenated. If we’re going to be nitpicky…

a shoo-in? lol nothings guaranteed, but like what others have said, it will help you.

With a 30 ACT, which does not put you at the top of the applicant pool, why would you think you were a shoo-in?

althogh another positive about this is that wash-u cares about demonstrated interest way more than other universities (because its obsessed with yield)

I went (you can PM me) on the second session and it had ABSOLUTELY no effect…they told us that directly. i had more friends who went that were rejected than accepted, actually

1232cricket - I assume you have some facts to back up your statement, or is it just unsubstantiated opinion.

there seemed to be a lot of acceptances that went to the summer program, enough to be a trend. It probably helps a lot. That said, there are a lot of acceptances that didn’t do it. You should check out the WashU decisions board to maybe find a correlation.
