Would you apply ED?

I ask the question, bc i want to go to Penn for a variety of reasons. But i am worried about the financial aspect. My EFC calculator was about 11K-12K and that would be good for our family with the no loan policy, but i am worried that somehow Penn, might come up short so i am afraid to apply ED, but also i don't know if i would get in RD, bc Penn accepts like half of the class ED.

So my question is: a) if you were me would you apply ED and b) do you think i would even get in RD? Any opinions would be great, and if you could tell me how you decided the RD and ED thing that would be good.

Apply ED, I think you’d have an ok to good shot, and regular decision would be a tough call but probably a way lower shot.

Best of luck though!

Thanks, bump. Also has Penn every calulated a EFC that was higher than the federal methodology. Bc my calculated EFC federal was about 12K, which would be good, but i am wondering if Penn would expect us to pay more.

I wouldn’t apply ED anywhere. You never know if your first choice will change after sending in your application.

And I hear colleges like to screw ED applicants in terms of financial aid, since they don’t need to draw them in with monetary awards seeing as they’re legally obligated to attend already.

That is a good point, i guess I will just go the RD route. Thanks.

hmm I spoke to Penn before applying ED- they said financial circumstances wouldn’t be an issue.. then I got absolutely no aid and am still trying to fight it :-</p>

You had me at black.

I also get to put that I am native american as well, bc legally you have to e 1/32 and i am 1/16, yay me.

But every body puts their race on the stats things.

(Very funny CCfanatic!)

On another note if you apply ED, would Penn give you less financial aid, then if you apply RD?

Can someone who knows about the financial aid, answer about wheter ED, kids get less money? Also if you apply ED and you need more aid, can you appeal, or will they not care bc you have to apply?
