Fun? fun in the way people think chool is fun or fun in the way of independance, food, campus, classes ect.

College is only fun in that you are laying the foundation for your future.

Forget about the losers that say stuff like, "what u lern outside the classrom is moar important."

If your school has a Burger King, life is manageable. Big classes are fun because you can retain your anonymity and hide from everyone.

Its a hell of a lot more fun than high school was, thats for sure.

And yes, learning social+work+time management skills outside the classroom is just as fun yet challenging.

I agree with ndcountrygirl, it's a hell of a lot more fun than high school ever was. The schoolwork can be tough, but being able to have your independence and be able to do things when you want how you want where you want, being able to pick your schedule and what you do with your time, etc. That's the fun part. Plus, of course, being able to hang out with your friends until the wee hours of the morning (if you want to), or drink yourself into oblivion (not that your liver would be very happy about that, but it's an option), or whatever. YOU control your life, not really anyone else.

I'm a concurrent student, and I think college is so much better than HS. You get the freedom of choosing your class, time, and teacher. There are no behavior problems and you don't have to call in absent if you don't want to go to class. There is very little wasted class time (ex. in HS you finish your assignment and have to talk for the rest of class time) and you get to leave early if class is finished early. Online classes are the best thing ever! I am seriously in love in college and now I really can't stand being in HS.

Moose, don't encourage Deluxe, he's always like that.

AUlostchick, you're right... I'm on here so rarely now that I still manage to be surprised by some of the responses... heh...

Moose, delux is a troll.

College is fun if you make it fun. You can go, hardly make any friends, just do your work and get out and then it probably isn't fun. Or you can take advantage of the opportunities to do stuff and make friends, and then you'll have fun. It's what you make it.

yes, i see college is fun. what do you mena you can choose not to go to class, what are the consequences?

A few professors take attendance but not most. The main consequence is that you miss out on whatever was learned that day. Some classes you "need" to attend because otherwise you'll be totally lost, some you can afford to only go once out of three times a week or less, but thats rare. It's generally best to go to class though.

It varies, but in most cases, nothing. Class participation and attendence isn't counted at all in many class, and where it is, usually only minimally. I've had classes where there was no roll, sign in or anything else. And it was a small, 18 or so person class. Basically, the teacher realizes that if you skip, it only hurts you, so why make you come? That is the sort of outlook alot of profs seem to have, at least at my university.

Yep, gprime.

In college, you're expected to be mature enough to understand the pros and cons of going or not going to class. It's your time and money, after all, and college professors aren't half-babysitter like public school teachers are.

Profs are there to teach to those who want to learn.

college is place where one not only grows intellectually, but grows spiritually and socially

In defense of Deluxehardballer, he goes to UCF-not a school known for it's highly intellectual student body. I can understand why he is so resentful of the airheaded, beach party crowd.

My room mate at McGill has been accepted (scouted, really) by Standford, MIT, and Caltech for grad. Mechanical Engineering. He makes his own beer and drinks like a fish.

wow. i wish i knew how to make my own beer.

When did you start liking alcohol, i've tasted it before and think it's horrible.

What kind of alcohol did you have? it really depends. Personally I think beer is an acquired taste that some people just don't have, myself included. I can't understand how people drink something that tastes like **** so much. But, for me, I really like liquor, rum especially. I like basically any kind of rum, and I could almost just drink it straight out of the bottle. GOOD vodka is the same way. Things like disarronno and amaretto are lovely too.

don't ever try alcohol...you'll have to regret...one time or another.
I have never tried and I'm glad I never did.

It'll taste disgusting the first few times, but then...
Don't ever try it again. Seriously.

LOL ok.

Would you ever consider college boring at times?

Austin's advice is bad. It is possible to always drink responsibly. And if you do, there is nothing wrong with enjoying alcohol. It is a matter of finding something that agrees with your palate. For some people, that is an amber ale. For others, it is a pino noir. As long as you are drinking because you like what it is you're imbibing, and you do not overindulge, there is no issue.

As for the question of it being boring at times, the answer is of course. Nothing is thrilling 100%, including college. The frequency of that though is largely a personal issue. Those who keep to themselves, don't try new things, and don't try to forge friendships will have more boring times than those doing the opposite.
