^lol, I’m guessing you’re being sarcastic? Looks like you already decided on Harvard.

?!? I’m really confused… how exactly did I manage to come off as sarcastic? I’m actually VERY, VERY conflicted between Harvard and Princeton… I change my mind about every 10 minutes XP But if I had to choose right now, without going to Harvard’s prefrosh, I would choose Princeton, since I know more about it… so yeah. I’ve anything but decided on Harvard.

ohh sorry brain read words wrong

You must want to **** Emma Watson. (If you’re a girl, it’s OK – I don’t judge.)

^hahahahahahahh what a ******. love you. xo

Considering the fact that most British girls start to decay at the age of 21 onwards, no.

In all seriousness, I would pick Brown because what it has to offer satisfies my personal needs as a college student. Simply put, if I were to fill out the collegeboard “college matchmaker” questionnaire, Brown would definitely be the school they suggest. Now, THAT’S fit.

i would certainly choose princeton over harvard. they have a much better focus on their undergrads. at harvard 2/3 are grad students

^haha well, what if my goal is to find a hot MBA student? Harvard it is!

JK.

I didnt apply to Harvard but I would have a tough time deciding between Wharton

hum, like asking a teen whether he would wear Nike or walmart brand? They are probably just as good a fit, but the brand name gives them “status”. We looked at Harvard, did not like the large student population, the campus neighborhood, and dorms for freshman. Did not even apply. D got into REED, Wellesley, Chatham, Honors college of Fla, etc. Wellesley fit best. Even as she now waits for the Wellesley shuttle bus in Harvard square, not a bit of second guessing the choice. I am tired of people thinking that brand name is the better buy just because of the brand. There are lots of good academically established schools that are better fit for many students. Stop thinking Brand!

I would choose Harvard over any school in the entire GALAXY! Harvard is my perfect fit it has everything I want in a university and ,also, everything I need in a university. Its my dream!! I WILL GO TO HARVARD! (Oh, and its not just because its Harvard)

shawking, please the only reason you are saying that is because you’re not good enough to enter oxbridge. Oxbridge is like MIT in the UK. Very selective and only chooses the most competent in the world for their majors. Plus the interviews are not the “getting to you know you” type but rather to assess your performance. Harvard Ugrad is not worth it. Grad is another matter. Not that I’m hating since I’m a legacy but Harvard graduates have expressed this quite a bit. Out HYP, princeton has the best ugrad focus and balance.

Raison_D’etre - given that I’m FROM the UK and have APPLIED to one of the Oxbridge institutions this year (having received my OFFER for PPE), I think I know what interviews there are like, and indeed how selective and reputable they are; whereas I doubt you have any experience at all with them

Yes they are selective (again nowhere near the standard of the Ivy’s - the most competitive course for example has an admit rate of about 14% at Oxbridge, whereas Ivy’s are completely a different matter), and HYPM etc >>>> Oxbridge.

PS. For those wondering about the interviews, they aren’t actually intensely academic as you may think. I had two, and both consisted of answering questions on books (related to my subject) I stated I’d read within my personal statement (sort of like a college essay for you US folks), and answering some simple game theory/logic questions to test my critical thinking skills.

raison_d’etre. You’re patriotic attempt at elevating the quality of education at oxbridge is touching, but not very believable. Comparing MIT to Oxbridge is hilarious. MIT is a dynamic school where world-class minds participate in ground breaking research whereas Oxford and Cambridge are castles where sons and daughters of earls and barons (yes they still do have them in the UK) meet to discuss the particular age of a particular fine wine. It’s time you realize that Europe is quickly becoming a quaint shopping corner.

@shawking: i don’t really think you can compare the admission rates since the systems are so different and for oxbridge you have a cut off score.
i don’t think it is about which university is better but what kind of education you want to get. a broad liberal arts education in the ivy league or a specialized one at oxbridge.

My answer to this question as an unqualified no.

^^What do you mean by cut off score? None exists.
Admissions are less competitive at Oxbridge because there are fewer applicants.

I’m technically still in the process of deciding but there is about a 99 percent chance I’ll be turning down Harvard for Princeton within the next couple days. It was an almost automatic thing. I’d definitely consider it for professional school though.

Princeton, however, is the only other school I’d pick over Harvard.

@millancad: there you go
[International Qualifications - University of Oxford](http://www.ox.ac.uk/admissions/undergraduate_courses/international_students/international_qualifications/index.html)

I love Oxbridge and will go there for graduate studies after the US, but it’s clear (as a british-commonwealth citizen) in my experience of the 2 systems that US admissions to top Ivies are MUCH more difficult.
