Would you get a W or a C?!

hello everyone! I hope apps are going well for everyone! I am in a dilemma right now. I am taking 2 pretty hard classes this quarter (gen chem and Bio). I am doing pretty poorly in both and am really considering withdrawing from one of them, most likely Bio. My question: How much would a W affect my acceptance?? would a C be better?? a C would definitely be a blow to my gpa, especially since I'll probably be getting C's in all my classes this quarter. I am a Fall 2010 transfer hopeful and I really want to get into UC Irvine or Davis. Bio is a perquisite for my major too, yikes.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

mm ic your situation. A C would affect your gpa but a W wouldn’t do much unless you had alot. So it’s up to you. If your GPA is high enough and you really need the class then take the C. If you can’t then withdrawal and take the class next time.

obviously it will be bad if you get a W or C (or below) in a prereq as important as bio. admissions will see it and think “if this person can’t hack it in a common class like bio or genchem at community college, how will they survive at UC?”

do you have a TAG with either school? if you take the W, you need to let them know that you’re not going to follow through with the plan that you put in the agreement. Necessary adjustments will be made and your TAG might not be void.

if you don’t have a TAG, retake the class that you W (or get a D/f) and retake it next semester. You’ll let them know about the bad grade in the January update.

Noo, I don’t have a TAG. I am really nervous about sticking with the class because I’m sure there is a possibility I could sink below a C, which would suck big time.

I would say I have a pretty good reason for doing poorly this quarter, so if I incorporate it into my personal statement, perhaps the admission committee will be a little bit forgiving.

I am still in a dilemma haha

Whatever you do , i would mention what caused you do to poorly on the particular class inside the additional comments section.
