Most people at my school go dateless to prom their freshman and sophomore years, and I’d say about half of the upperclassmen don’t bring dates, either. It’s not something people think of as really important.

At our school we have a “destination prom” about an hour from our school so you can’t leave…and I wouldn’t go to it without a date. Girl.

However, we have a winter formal which is less of a big deal and I would go to that dateless.

I did! I thought it was a lot more fun. (:

Also, don’t force yourself to get a date just for the sake of having a date. Especially if you just know that person casually. Ninety-nine percent of the time it will just be awkward for everyone.

Get a good date or bust.

But really, if you can’t go to prom–you’re not missing out. Nobody reminiscences about their prom in college anyways.

I’m a girl and i would actually prefer to go to prom with my friends over a date since junior prom is strictly juniors only and im not close friends with guys in my grade and most of them that i am friends with are gay anyway so it would be weird to ask a guy that i only talk to sometimes with to prom since i’ll be the odd one out in his group of friends so i know i would have a lot more fun by just going with friends before, during, and after prom.
Plus bout half the kids in my grade are going with friends anyway so its no big deal if you dont have a date but from what i personally hear, you’re better off staying home than going to prom alone.

I just went with a group of friends for my junior prom and we had a blast! I’m have a date for senior prom though! :)
