<p>I think a sympathetic presence is always welcomed by the family. Sometimes I feel awkward if I don’t know the person well, but I think families appreciate a loving showing from their community. I go to show them their loved one will be missed and that their presence in my life, no matter how small, was a real connection. I simply tell the family I am sorry for their loss and say something positive about the deceased.</p>
