Would you have chosen a different UC?

If you were given the chance, would you have attended another UC school? If so, which one? And why?

Nope. I loved my experience at UCLA. The only things I regret were not joining more clubs and not taking more “just for fun classes.”

No, never! The only other UC I considered attending was Davis, but that’s only because they offered me a scholarship. UCLA is definitely the best UC, in my opinion, because it offers an awesome combination of excellent academics AND lots of fun stuff to do both on and off campus.

Never. I’ll be in UCLA, unless Princeton admits me. (I love its castle-like chapel :p)

…

No

Nope. UCLA is a perfect match for me. Not too far but not too close, good food, lots of places to visit (Santa Monica, Little Tokyo, Chinatown, Koreatown, etc.) and a beautiful campus.

The only other one I would have chosen was UCI but that would only be because they offered more money.

Perhaps. Hard to say without parallel lives…

No. I wouldn’t have chosen another UC. When I was accepted, I was debating between UCLA and UC Berkeley like a lot of people. Since I grew up in the bay area, I decided to take the chance to fly the nest and give myself the opportunity to grow in a new and challenging environment. In that sense, UCLA exceeded my expectations (although I didn’t have very many so that’s probably not saying much) or rather I took what I wanted from UCLA. I’ve changed a lot and for the better in the past four years - and I think it all had to do with me knowing what was best for me.

Now I’m going to grad school (something I figured out along the way) at UC Berkeley. I faced a similar dilemma, but this time between Berkeley and UC San Diego, both of which have great grad programs in my field but ultimately location and the pros & cons that come with it tipped the scales again. I’m heading back up north to be closer to my parents (life isn’t getting any longer) and challenge myself in more ways than one.

Ultimately, it’s such an intensely personal choice… and I feel badly for people who are constantly bombarded with others trying to control their lives and tell them what’s important.

^ What will you be studying at Berkeley?

I’m entering the Molecular Cell Biology PhD program.
