So...there you go.

Pomona: High fit/low reach
Amherst: Medium reach
UCLA: High fit
Brown University: High reach
NYU (Tisch): High fit
Cornell College: High fit
Hendrix College: Low fit
Harvard University: High reach

Thank you!

Have you thought about more LACs? Perhaps Connecticut College, Vassar College, Weslyan University, Wellesley College, Holy Cross?

I did, but at least from what I looked into I didn’t see too many I liked based on location perhaps size. Also, it’s too late for me to apply to any more schools :\ But do you think any of the ones you listed I would really be able to fit into/like?

All of the ones I mentioned would – I think*– be well-suited for you.

Ahh, okay. :[ Awr. Oh, well

As for Pomona…You really think it’s a low reach? :0

So anyone else up for a gooo?

I think you will get in everywhere you applied except at Harvard and Amherst.

But I have to ask about why Pomona is your number 1 choice. I think that if you get into Brown (and I think you will), that would be a much better fit for someone with your interests and background–and I think your chances at financial aid is going to be much better there as well.

Maybe I’m a bit partial since I was accepted to Brown–but I had good friends who went to Pomona (science-nerd types) who had major problems fitting in there despite their strong science backgrounds–which is what Pomona excels at. Brown seems more well-rounded to me–and will also be a great place for art studies (along with UCLA–where I actually attended).

The problem with UCLA is that you will have a difficult time affording it unless your family has the $. Out-of-state at UCLA is expensive–and they don’t give out-of-state grants. And, for that matter, Pomona is also unlikely to give you tons of aid. Brown is likely to give you essentially a free-ride money-wise. I’d definitely take that if offered.

Just my two cents, you understand.

P.S. Good luck with all of your applications.

! Thank you so much for the info, Calcruzer. I didn’t know that about Pomona. I did know the other fact about UCLA, though. :frowning: Ahh.

Calcruzer, can you explain why the difficult fit with Pomona? Were your science-nerd friends not “nerdy” enough to fit, or what was the source of the disconnect? What is your sense of who would feel most comfortable at Pomona? Thanks!

I love the ouija piece!!

as a high school senior, I don’t really feel qualified to chance you, but your ACT score is good and your grades are excellent. your ecs are strong and I really like your art, esp. most of the design pieces.

Thank you very much, tickytock. :D

Yeah, Brown loves minorities (I’m not racist).

Seriously though, my cough black cough friend with 3.5 GPA and 2200+ GPA got into Brown with lacking E.Cs too.

I would give my right hand (don’t ask for my left…wink) to have your stats!

Your artwork is wonderful, your stats are acceptable, and your URM status will make you competetive at all these schools (except perhaps Harvard).

I think you’re a particularly good fit for Pomona, frankly, and unlike the previous posters, I think if you qualify for financial aid, you’ll get a better deal at Pomona than at Brown (or most other colleges). Pomona recently announced that they have eliminated loans from their student aid packages - something only a handful of colleges can afford to do nationwide (Brown does not).

Most Pomona students absolutely love it there, which is one reason they have the highest freshman retention rate in the country (99%). Good luck!

Interesting, Sarahs…The elimination of loans aspect makes my future look brighter.

Um, yay for the black thing, HSisOverrated? XD I’ve always been aware of having a minority advantage, but I’ve always put myself at the same level as anyone else so I can proudly say I did so.

you need to work on your figure drawings

You’re in everywhere. You’re an AA applicant valedictorian with a good ACT score. :)

‘you need to work on your figure drawings’

Yeah, I know. Those are the ones I did two years ago. I no recent figure drawings that are developed enough (is a slacker)

I have changed my mind about the Tisch School…I don’t think I am advanced enough in my artwork to apply! But that’s okay. I’m using my artwork for supplements.

bumpah whooo
