Would you mind sharing statistics if you are accepted with scholarship awards?

GPA: 4.57
SAT: reading 790
math 680
writing 740
Rank: 1 of 150-something
taking the hardest courses at my school....
anything else you'd like to know?

yeah, how much $ did you get?
I hope to get full tuition
am I right that you automatically apply to scholarships when you apply to the school -- no separate applications

No extra app required for Merit Scholarships. Everyone is considered for them. However, a "full tuition" merit award does not exist. Trustees is highest merit award and it is a couple thousand shy of full tuition. Full tuition is available for need based aid, FAFSA required, etc.

I got in with no money.

89.0 GPA unweighted (hardest courses) sux I know

Musician/theater

2140 SAT (reading 710, math 730, writing 700, essay 12)
Chem SAT 710
Math 2 SAT 770

I won't go with no money. Thats OK cause I got money from RPI and I like it better.

There are a limited number of full tuition scholarships. The details are on the financial aid site: Scholarships for Freshman. I do believe that URMs may have the edge on those.

yeah, i got $26,800 for the Trustee scholarship. Since tuition is estimated at $32,800, and with everything else its over $46,000, that's not really close to full tuition at all. But I think KenJ'sMom is right about the full scholarships being separate. I've also heard that they aren't awarded until later.

I got in with the $26,800 Trustee's Scholarship (which I think is pretty nice, but anyway)

GPA: 3.82 unw, 4.41 w
Rank: 14/768
SAT: 2290--800 CR, 780 M, 710 WR
SAT II: 780 US, 770 Lit, 770 MII

Extras are fine, but average or worse by CC standards :)

I'm surprised you didn't get any aid. My SAT was 1980, 720 Reading, 660 Math, 610 Writing. My Hist SAT II was 640 & Lit was 630. My EC's were pretty strong: Editor in Chief campus newspaper, founder of local table tennis club, submissions editor of Literary Magazine, etc all for 4 years.

I have the same GPA unweighted but my Standard test scores sucked, & I got $19,000. The Average financial aid package is $29,000 so who knows, maybe some extra $ will trickle in.

Good luck getting a Trustee's scholarship

iamtim:

If you intend to major in music, or double major with music as one of the majors, there are additional scholarships available to those who audition on campus (before a certain date - I think in late February). There are also other scholarships for talent (such a theatre, etc.) you could look into.

I got the Trustee's Scholarship ($26,800).

GPA: 3.98 UW
Rank: 8/340
SAT: 2130 (740 M, 700 W, 690 CR)

Extracurriculars are pretty decent.

Wow. Ok now I'm sort of surprised I got no money. I'm not even going to bother filling out the financial aid forms because I think it's annoying that apparently the FAFSA and profile thing aren't enough - they want their own done too. Anyway I'd probably only get a little money and then they'd pull it when my sister is done with college.

How many Trustee's scholarship does Case award per year? We are Ohio residences and our income is above 100K a year. Does it mean the most aid my D would get from Case is far less than a "full ride"?

Well, I don't know how many Trustee's Scholarships they give, but it seems like if you have the stats for them (at least a 2200 SAT or equivalent ACT seems to be the range), they are pretty generous. As far as full ride, no, it doesn't seem particularly likely, although possible. With a Trustee's Scholarship, though, your cost per year would be around $16,000. I don't like to assume about other people's financial situations, but with no other mitigating factors, that doesn't seem to be too unreasonable of a gap to cover with a $100,000+ income. Even if finances are very tight, your daughter could take out a modest loan of $5000/yr, work a part-time job for another $2000-4000/yr (depending if she only worked in the summer or all-year round) and leave you with a very reasonable $7000-$9000 contribution/yr.

should the merit aid be included in the acceptance letter?

im not sure whats going on really though, bc i applied to PPSP...and we dont receive notification until march 5, but i got my acceptance letter mid jan.

I applied to PPSP too and got my general admission in January- based on the stats I'm seeing here, I should have gotten a scholarship, but is it possible that they're witholding scholarship decisions for PPSP applicants until March 5th? Or did I just not get a scholarship?
Also, scholarship appeal was mentioned earlier- how do you do this?

My son also applied to PPSP and received his acceptance in Jan. In his acceptance letter, he was told he was awarded the Trustee Scholarship.

Please include your class rank in your stats - I believe that are looking for top 5 or 10% for the awards.

I just found out I got presidential!

SAT: 2170
ACT: 32
SAT IIs: BioE - 750, Math II - 750, Lit - 700
Rank: My school supposedly doesn't give this out, but I checked my school report form and it said I was number 1 (out of around 50).
GPA (UW): 3.88

I'm really surprised the presidential/trustee differential is 5000. I thought it would be bigger.

Does anyone know how many presidential awards are given out?

Oh, and the award was listed in my acceptance letter (I'm not PPSP though).
