MIT hands down for engineering

Mathematcs at Princeton or MIT?

MIT hands down for engineering

Mathematcs at Princeton or MIT?

Harvard for engineering.

University of Iowa for creative writing, or Emory for creative writing?

Mathematics at Princeton; Emory for creative writing

Harvard for engineering or Princeton for engineering

Harvard.

Stanford for English, or Yale for English?

Yale because i think its better with humanities

Columbia/ UPenn

Columbia

Doesn’t Stanford also have a top English program? (Edit: Yes, I checked and US News ranks both Stanford and Yale at #2 among English graduate programs.)

MIT for physics or Harvard for physics

Penn. (I had to make such decision and I decided that Columbia has too many backdoors)

Harvard for physics. (heck, I would still choose Harvard over MIT for engineering)

Rice vs Johns Hopkins

JHU

Silverturtle, if the question is which college would YOU rather attend given a choice between full tuition or a scholarship to another school without as much academic renown, it is a fair assumption to base your preference on your financial needs. Your confusion confuses me! Since I could manage with a full tuition, it would be in the realm of reason to go to the better school - for me; I did make it personal. And a two dollar scoop of ice cream is not $54,000/year (unless it’s really, really good Haagens-Dasz). :)

English/History at Duke or Brown?

Brown

Tinfoyl, I am not confused. I merely found it odd that you made the general statement that “that entirely depends on someone’s financial needs” when providing a personal explanation.

Caltech for engineering or MIT for engineering

Caltech, I’ve been in Massachusetts wayyy too long and I need out.

BearCub, what do you mean by backdoors?

NYU or BU

NYU

Another question for BearCub: Are you graduating from WashU and going to graduate school at UPenn, or are you transferring?

WashU or UPenn (non-Wharton)

I know it’s just me. But I’ve seen a lot of my not so smart friends gettin into Columbia’s less selective colleges. It made me lose the kinda pride that I had for getting acceptance to the school. Again, I’m just weird.

UPenn for grad school. Not transferring.

NYU

I would still choose WashU for undergrad vs non Wharton UPenn

McGills or Michigan

I’ve always wanted to go to Montreal! Sure, McGill. Why not?

CompSci at CMU or Stanford?

Silverturtle, am I not included in the category of someone? It’s always been my dream to be SOMEBODY! (cue music) :p

I don’t think they differ much but for some reason (maybe because of Randy Pausch’s last lecture), I have a sympathy towards CMU.

Computer science at University of Illinois or Georgia Tech

Illinois - I have a friend who goes there for CompSci, and he loves the program (I guess it’s the trickle down effect)

Chemistry at Northwestern or Penn?

Northwestern.

Penn/Berkeley?

Penn definitely for an undergrad

PoliSci at Georgetown or Duke?

Duke.

Berkeley or Caltech

Berkeley

USC or NYU for film?

USC for the weather and the girls

Harvard Econ or Wharton?
