Would you rather be smart but awkward or average but socially adept?

I might actually take the social skills. But the grass is always greener on the other side. I guess I should be grateful for what I have.

Smart but awkward

I’m already the former, and I’ll stay with the former.

Both? lol it’s not impossible

How smart? Einstein or Jefferson level?

How socially adept? John Kennedy charisma?

Someone with strong convictions or inspired ideas could do things with either.

I actually like where I am now. I’m not the smartest (probably top 10 in my grade), but I have a good, large group of friends.

If I had to choose, I’d take smart but awkward.

Average.

I don’t care about being smart. Intelligence has little meaning to me. It never has. I always hated the idea of gifted and talented.

The people who have the most success in this world are often the ones that have amazing social skills and know how to work with people. If you have good social skills, you’ll have a better job interview, you’ll be more able to make business connections at parties and what-not, there are a lot of upsides to being socially adept.

And average people can work hard to make the same gains as smart people.

I’m smart but awkward, and so are all my friends :stuck_out_tongue: best of both worlds.

Being of average intelligence and socially adept would be a giant step up for most people. But for many intelligent, but socially awkward, people would not want to downgrade to that.

Considering the website we’re on, most people will prefer the former. But remember this: charisma can get you just as far as intelligence. Television and radio personalities, actors, performers, and the like have just as much chance at a meaningful, affluent life as scientists, doctors, and technology/business moguls. Truth be told, you need good social skills to be successful, regardless of your intellectual prowess.

If I had to choose, I’d choose the latter. I’m glad I have the best of both worlds :).

I’m smart and super awkward. I’d rather stay like this than turn into the latter.

i’m smart and awkward and i’ll stick with that.

average and socially adept has its advantages and it’ll get you places in life. however, ultimately, you have to be able to do the work and perform. if people find that you can’t do that, you’ll be let go.

I’m smart and socially adept, so I think I’ll stick with that.

If given the choice, I would take average. What’s the point of being anything if you don’t have people to share it with?

I’m smart, but I’m definitely not awkward. I like myself the way I am.

I’m smart and socially adept…get on my level?

CCers absolutely adore these threads because they provide the perfect opportunity for one to praise his or her self shamelessly.

I feel bad for the below average and socially inept :[

Average and socially adept. Simply because those people can get further with the basis of their social skills, as long as they work hard. All the skills required “to become successful” in the traditional sense come much easier for those socially adept.

average is good

also i love jersey13
