Would you say CSU East Bay is a better school academically and location wise than CSU Bakersfield?
Also at @NCalRent is there a good shot I get into CSU East Bay? I haven’t received word yet, but I sent my transcripts about a month ago. I applied with a 2.61 in November and my GPA went up to a 2.87 after my fall semester. So I sent the transcript after my fall semester, and I’m getting anxious since I haven’t heard back from them yet. Also I’m applying from another CSU, so do you think I’ll get in? I’ve done my research on all the colleges and I really want to go to East Bay. And my GPA should also go up even more significantly since I’m retaking the second class I failed last year. So what do you think my chances are? Also I looked on their college board transfer acceptance rate, and it said they accept 83% of transfer students. So do you think I should get in since my gpa went up, they’re a non-impacted university for my major and they accept 83% of transfers? Sorry for the long and repetitive questions, in really really anxious rn.
though probably similar in size, the cities of Bakersfield and Hayward are about as different as you can get in CA Most people who would be comfortable in one would hate the other. Visit both and, I bet you will develop a strong preference right away. Academically, they are similar for most programs. If you want an ag or energy job - go to Bakersfield. If you want to work for a tech firm, East Bay’s location is hard to beat. I don’t think either is impacted for transfers (other than nursing) so, as long as you’ve taken the required courses, you should get into both.
Good luck.
Are you local for CSUEB?
@NCalRent @philbegas I actually attend CSU Bakersfield rn, I’m applying out of CSU Bakersfield to CSU East Bay. I want to leave bakersfield bad lol. So I’m wondering will I get into East Bay since I’ll be transferring out of CSU Bakersfield
??
Tagging people over and over again isn’t going to make them drop everything they’re doing and answer you. People have jobs, classes, children you know.
Academically, they’re probably on the same level. They’re both lower-tier CSUs, but Hayward is a better place than Bakersfield, subjectively speaking.
Nothing in your earlier posts indicates you are a student at Bakersfield hoping to transfer to East Bay. Rather, you seem to be asking which to choose a a transfer destination. Clearly, you have already made that decision - and need to wait for an answer from CSUEB. As I note above, they aren’t impacted at the campus level so, meeting the minimum threshold (for GPA and completed courses) should get you in. It looks like you are OK on the GPA side but, I don’t have enough info to say if you’ve completed the required courses. Ideally, you have gone over this with someone at your target school and have a good feel for where you stand on that front.
A word of unsolicited advice for you… As you ask the world for advice going forward, think about your audience, be patient, courteous and make your requests complete but concise and be gracious for any time/attention granted whether you like the advice or not. You will find people much more willing to take the time/energy and thought to respond.
Good luck and I sincerely hope it works out.
@NCalRent Sorry if I was rude sir/ma’am. My sincerest apologies, and I’m currently attending CSU Bakersfield and applied to 5 CSUs in the fall to transfer out. I’m sorry if I annoyed/pestered you, I’ve just been very anxious throughout this process. Thanks Very Much again! You’ve been a very useful source of information throughout this process! I hope you the best in your career and life. Once again sorry if I was rude.
