My D is contemplating taking Calc I & II at a community college instead of AP Calc AB & BC at her HS. Would this be viewed negatively from an admission standpoint?

I've heard from some colleges that if your school offers the AP class that you should take the class at your high school instead of CC. I'm not sure if this holds true with every college, so your best bet is to contact colleges your D is interested in. Colleges are more likely to give credit for a 4 or 5 on the AP exam than an A or B from a community college. My college is a ***** when it comes to transfer credit, but has a clear set of AP tests and corresponding scores that it accepts for credit. It just depends on what is best for your situation.

Thanks Venkat. She'll be applying to the UCs. I checked the UC assist.org site and it clearly states that Calc I & II taken at the approved CCs are UC transferable. I'll check with the UC admission offices.
