i am currently going to a college that really doesnt fit my personality its a big party school and i am not a party person, anyways its not that i dont like this school it just doesnt feel right. i am thinking about transferring to a school that is out of state so it would be a lot more expensive, but i visited there and its great such a small school and great scenery, seems like a perfect fit. but is the higher tuition and hassle of transferring worth it or should i stick it out at my current school? oh yeah and i am planning on going to grad school so i will have to pay for that too. what would you do?

Very simple - stop going to parties. Problem Solved.

i dont go, so no not problem solved

I feel similar to you. I go to UCSB and that is a main reason I am transferring. I am also in the same situation for having to pay for grad school. I think what it comes down to is can you handle sticking it out? Or, will you crumble and truly not enjoy life with what ever you do? Will it really take away from your “college” experience? Will it hinder your ability to show how intelligent you are? If so, you should really look at other schools. There are thousands of scholarships out there to help you with tuition. You can even get financial aid and maybe even academic scholarships. If money is seriously an issue and you are unable to transfer, then find other interests to pursue at your college. Find a group of students like yourself that are involved in activities that you enjoy. This has really helped me last even for the little time I have been in SB.

Well, do you only want to transfer for the scenery? How about academics, opportunities/research, and the overall quality of your education? I put an emphasis on the education part since you want to go to grad school, and for that, you need a solid undergrad education. No school will be perfect, and if the only thing truly bothering you is the party scene, then it wouldn’t be worth the transfer.

It seems like your major concern is tuition. Are you eligible for need-based aid? Depending on where you go, transfers are provided with need-based aid. You will get out with some debt (maybe less if you find some scholarships as well), but if you feel that it will significantly help you in the future, you should go for it.

well each school has an equally good program in the field i am going in. the only difference is the atmosphere; my current school is large and feels unwelcoming whereas the other school is not.
