Pride or arrogance?

I'd say Brown students definitely have pride, but it's not a bad thing.

Pride or arrogance?

I'd say Brown students definitely have pride, but it's not a bad thing.

Even more than pride, I'd say they have love.

love does not equal pride.

At least, I think I have a preference of Brown's forum over Harvard's... Harvard's pride brings it so many students whose goals are simply being a Harvard student and I'm really fed up with the meaningless yet numerous "chance me" there.

The Chance Me threads are all over this forum as well, despite everything I do to discourage people from that...

But you know what? I think that's an interesting point and I'm not sure how valid it is, but Brown student's ambitions have nothing to do with being a Brown student or Ivy Leaguer, in my experience... Is that different elsewhere?

I think they are. Not as much as Harvard, but a lot of people want Brown's level of prestige, or quality, rather. I know I did to a certain degree.

I put a thread in Harvard's forum to aske them about the people they recruited. Here's the link...http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/harvard-university/411862-question-all-harvard-students-here.html

Is my English that bad? I don't think they really answered me and I'm very depressed by their response. I do wonder what your reactions will be regarding my questions in that thread.

If you love Brown, go for it...it seems that the only advantage Harvard has to you might be its prestige...and really, as someone who goes to a "big-name" school, the whole "prestige factor" wears off about 2 days after you get on campus. It's your fit with the school that really matters...if you love Brown, go for it, and don't look back. Good luck!!

i most definitely would turn harvard down for brown. brown is so much more laid back. plus, i honestly like providence and thayer street and all much more than boston. there's a smaller, more community-like feel to brown and its surrounding area.

Yes, I would

Luna--I thought you received some very clear and excellents responses, thanks for pointing to a thread on a board I don't read. I do think your posts were confused and rambling a bit. Even silly further on.

I think that you had a mistake in composing the questions, in thinking that Harvard students and alumni--with personal understanding of the experience, would think of their school as the stereotype that you seem to characterize it as.
