would you?

would u turn down a near full-ride at Appalachian State University for UNC-Chapel Hill? I want to major in business.

The obvious answer is go to UNC, cuz not many have heard of app state (except div. 2 football fans)...but then again I will graduate almost debt free.

I am in-state.

if you're in state UNC almost costs nothing...UNC all the way for better job opportunities upon graduation and better placement in grad schools if u plan on going

thanks, but my parents haven't really saved much so I plan to take student loans to pay for the cost of attending. I know its a good value, but App is almost free.

still, I would agree and go with UNC as most have suggested about the job opportunities. any other advice?

For a business career, go to UNC, in state it's still worth the loans.

oh yea, UNC-Greensboro is offering me some money (trying to get full ride) plus admission into Honors Program. I could easily get a 3.9 GPA at this school, and its more respected than APP. Do u think thats a good idea cuz then I can get into grad school easily b/c of recs and whatnot?

or UNC-Chapel Hill all the way.

sorry to be annoying, but I applied to 6 places, and these are the major instate ones Im looking at.

Is your full-ride a true full ride? All fees, books, room and board? Are your parents not able to contribute ANY money to your education?

Obviously Chapel Hill is a great school but you have to run through all the numbers to make the choice. Remember your parents can subtract some of what they currently spend on feeding you and you could easily pay a fair chunk of the 15K/yr expenses with working. If you can swing Chapel Hill financially this one seems like a no brainer to me. If you could get 5K from your parents, 5K from working, and 5K in loans each year, it's doable. How does that sound?

UNC is very certainly worth the cost, especially since you're in-state.

business???? NO QUESTION you should be going to UNC. If it was another program, like English, then I would actually have to think for a second. People rightly pay out-of-state tuition for UNC's Business program. But don't take our word for it...go do some research on App State and UNC business grad school or job placement...ie, how successfully students move on from their undergrad business majors

go to chapell hill!!!!!!!!!!!!

If by grad school you mean getting an MBA, you won't be going until years after college. The most important element of business school 9grad) admission is your post undergrad job. Go to the place with the best recruitment, UNC by far given your options. In a business career chances are you will make up the tuition difference thousands of times by attending the better college.

UNCG is fairly good in business, although not on the same level as Chapel Hill. I have a friend in their marketing program with a scholarship who likes it a lot.

Boone is a much better college town than Chapel Hill, and the scholarship is appealing. Consider going to App for a year or two and then transferring to UNC, cutting down on costs. It's actually pretty common, and it's no riskier than going to Berkeley hoping to transfer into Haas.

MomOFour brings up an excellent point about the feasibility of paying for Chapel Hill. Have you applied for outside scholarships?

GO to UNC. Its a national name and its a steal in-state. I think its worth every penny.
