would'ya chance it?

hello all. senior here. i'm a girl in northern MA hoping there's some way for her to get into a great LAC in the northeast. loves poetry, music, theater and cookie dough.

SAT
730 CR
640 (ow) M
700 W
I've already retaken, this time ACTUALLY STUDYING.

GPA: 3.8 ish (probably more like 3.85-3.88) unweighted in all honors and AP classes

everything else is hard to describe unbiased, but no hook per se...
great essay, one of the best my AP english teacher's read in years.

what are my chances at:
Vassar
Williams
Brown
Tufts
Barnard
Northwestern
UChicago

I've visited all but Northwestern and UChi, but have concrete reasons for applying to all.

(this does not include safety schools. i've got them. don't worry.)

Also, does it hurt to write "prospective english major"? A friend told me it's basically application suicide for females applying to small LACs.
I'm actually more interested in Comparative Literature...
and I plan on double majoring/minoring in theater.
Oh and supplemental poetry? If it's good, does it matter if it's not awardwinning...or published?

Thanks! :)

based on your scores uchicago, northwestern, williams, brown are reaches. since they're all private schools, your ec's and essays may give you a better chance!

Tufts is a reach, too. Vassar and Barnard are low reaches/high matches. DO you have safeties?

Holy Cross has a very good English major.

thanks everyone!
I had estimated tufts as a high match/reach, but vassar and barnard as more just matches.

what can I do to have more of a reasonable chance at getting in at least one of these schools...?

i do have safeties. And I've talked with my high school counselor about it...no worries.

And thanks for the suggestion of holy cross, but I'm really looking for non-denominational schools. (my friend had an interview there...and it was with a priest....yeah...) But I've heard great things about the school.
