<p>Okay, so I'm having some serious schedule problems, please read the whole thing because I honestly don't know what to do.</p>
<p>I can take a total of 3 electives. However, I have 5 classes I want to take and if I don't take a class there is a downside. I am def taking AP Bio and AP Psych as 2 of them and that leaves one left, and I still have to choose between 3 things.</p>
<p>Here are the 3 with the good things / and bad if i dont take it</p>
<p>1) Acadamy of Finance - GOOD THING Get to be in DECA, get an internship through the program in senior year. BAD THING about taking it, its not an honors, so my ranking and W GPA would completely drop, and right now I'm 4 in the class so I am striving for val.</p>
<p>2) Debate - GOOD THING get to keep being in debate, I'm very competitive in it. BAD THING - I wouldn't be able to take Academy of Finance, I'm interested in Finance.</p>
<p>3) Spanish 4 - GOOD THING i get to be in Spanish Honor Society and Competition team. BAD THING, I don't get to take Academy of Finance or debate. I'm least interested in Spanish.</p>
<p>Finance, what you enjoy is more important than class rank. By a lot.</p>
<p>Sometimes you just have to do what YOU want to do. I'd say Finance..the internship may provide you with more than a class rank could. Also, your two AP classes should balance the fact that it is not an honors class.</p>

<p>Yeah that's what I was thinking. But the hard thing is that I know i have a really good chance at being valedictorian if I take an honors class instead of Academy of Finance.</p>
<p>Also, I have another situation. If I don't join debate class, I can't be in debate club, which sucks cuz i really like debate, but I hate the class. Do you guys have any suggestions on how I can approach an administrator or GC or the debate teacher (WHO IS MEAN) on possibly being in the club and not the class?</p>
<p>You could ask your GC about your dilemma with your classes. If he/she says to pick a class other than the debate, you could propose that your school have a debate club for non-debate class members. My school has a debate club but we don't have a class so I can't really compare. However, I'm sure there are a lot of schools that have both debate club and class separately so you could support your reasoning with that. But, you really should ask your GC for a final decision.</p>

<p>Not finance. You aren't going to learn anything that you wouldn't learn in an intro class in college. I suppose it depends on the internship, but what kind of internship would it be? I've never heard of a high school student getting an internship that involved anything other than making copies and getting coffee. Find out the exact nature of the internship you're going to have. If it isn't substantial, forget it. It's much more important for you to continue developing more fundamental skills that you would get in debate or advancing your proficiency in Spanish. Plus, you're in high school. Focus on basic academic classes; it would be a mistake to pick a career-oriented elective. On that note, why are you definitely taking AP Psych? I would recommend debate and Spanish over psych (even though it's an AP) because its reputation doesn't imply any rigor.</p>
<p>I would say go with debate and Spanish, or debate and psych if you still really want to take it.</p>

<p>theoneo, thank you for your input. the reason I don't want to take Debate is that I truly hate the class. It is all bookwork on how debate works, but I'm already extremely well versed on most types of debate (espec. the type that I do) so I find it pointless to take the debate class. I would however, like to be in the club and not the class so I'm going to see if that's possible with my GC. I also don't want to take Spanish because I've got my 2 years and an extra already and I truly don't like Spanish, and I'm just making an A in it.</p>
