hey. thanks for chancing me! as for you, i think your stats look great. you’ll get into NYUAD for sure! but ur SAT1 score seems a bit low for brown and columbia. but other than that, everything looks great! i think you’ll have a great chance to get in to brown and columbia despite the SAT. but i dont think i would be too concerned about that. I think the essay will really affect on whether getting in or not.

female+valedictorian will help alot. I’m not sure if Egyptian counts as URM but I feel like that might help with your chances also.

your gpa is great and your volunteer work sounds fine.

i’d say the biggest things holding you back are: SAT 1 score (try to aim for 2200+) and awards (academic, community service, etc). if you can get those 2 objectives i’d say you have good chances for Brown + Columbia.

I could improve SAT, but as far as awards go that’s a no go. My community doesn’t offer any academic or community service related awards to non-locals which sucks
Thanks for chancing!
Any other thoughts? Especially regarding NYUAD.

I have a friend who got accepted to NYUAD with a FULL SCHOLARSHIP - NO ECs and a 1640 SAT. It definitely isn’t as prestigious as it makes itself out to be.
What would be considered as a hook? I’m an URM female who is also very culturally involved (NYUAD loves that). I’m nominated from my school and have a very good rec from an important person.

oh my bad about the NYUAD. i though that was the liberal studies program that NYU offers where students study abroad as basically a way to be guaranteed a spot back at NYU during sophomore or junior year, which i also heard is easy to get into :S

North Africa (Egypt) counts as White on the app so that would not help.

I think since there aren’t many award/leadership opportunities in your community, you should really invest time into getting your SAT score up this summer. That would give you a much better shot combined with your GPA for these top schools. aim for 2250

Hey guys! Thanks for taking the time to chance me Really appreciate all the feedback!!
I see now that my dream of getting into NYUAD, or any Ivy League at that, is pretty unrealistic with my mediocre stats
Anyway, I really appreciate all the help! Means a lot
HAVE COOKIES! :)

I don’t agree with the previous opinions partly 'cause 25% of admitted students at Columbia had SAT lower than 2100, so yours isn’t that bad (the same for Brown). Just try to take it again and increase the score at least a little
Your SATII and ECs are good! Just try to do your best with the essays remembering that they have to reflect yourself as much as possible. With great essays I think you have a shot! Remember that they look as much as your personality as your academics!
Just try to pick up some safeties 'cause Ivies and NYU are nothing but easy to get into

Well it depends frankly on what your SAT Math score was in comparison to your CR and W.
but considering you only got a 740 on SAT Math Level II I would estimate it ranges from 680-730
your unique background will definitely help your chances because these schools are looking for diversity in their student population
I would say NYU is easily in your reach but I am iffy on Brown and Columbia

Your stand a good shot, especially at NYUAD. Your SAT scores are fine and near many students accepted to NYUAD and Brown (both of which I was accepted to).

Also, the URM thing matters for American universities, but not as much for NYUAD. As American universities are operating under an American system, they’ll count you as a white American. NYUAD, however, will place more emphasis on your international background/experience, which will boost your chances slightly.

So, I’d give you around a 40% chance of getting into 1 of these 3 (most likely NYUAD).

But don’t listen to the people saying NYUAD is easy. It’s not, considering how many people I know got into Ivies but not it. Indeed, a good friend of mine was accepted to Brown and Columbia but not NYUAD.
