wow.. elc

wow.. so ed.. the ELC program of the UCs denied me.. im in the top 4 percent of my high school.. but just because they had to recalculate the GPA by UC standards (only accepting 8 honors courses in the two years they calculate). Now kids that took easier courses that got As with 2 honors classes have a higher rank than someone like me.. who took 20+ honors/AP courses and got a couple Bs. utter ****.

So ranking by UC standards means you're not in the top 4%? That's strange. Rank at my school is based on UC GPA, not UW GPA, so those who took fewer honors/AP classes and did slightly better than those who took more won't be as high.

And don't worry. ELC means very little. Your chances are not significantly hurt if you aren't an ELC student.

no ELC is done by UC GPA.. and UC GPA allows a max of 2 honors/ap classes per semester of ur 10th and 11th grade year.. and apparently by the UC catalog.. it shows admit rates without ELC and admit rates with ELC.. and for LA and Berkeley.. its 24% vs 58%.. i see a big diff. plus all the other campuses are 90%+ also known as.. SAFETIES :[

In the UC catalog, I see the ELC admit rate -- I don't see the admit rate without ELC. The 24% is the overall admit rate (ELC and no ELC).

I have no idea how I ended up getting ELC and some of my friends (who are only ranked a littttle below me) did not get it. Not that I'm complaining. Just that it's kind of odd how this all works out. I don't think they have had any B's, and they've definitely taken >6 UC eligible honors/AP's... I had taken all 8 though, so maybe that's why. Do they take scores into account? I think it's only GPA right?
