Ive posted topics in here plenty of times seeing if I could get into to state schools, ect. Well, I had a 24 ACT (yeah, poor I know) and a 3.7 W GPA, and I was just notified that I got accepted into NC State University's college of management. Ive been told everywhere that I couldnt get in because of my low test scores, and that Im out of state. I feel so lucky right now that I did, because from what Ive heard their business program is pretty good. Anyone hear about it? I know most only hear about IVY leagues, ect, but Im curious about this.

I was gonna go to the University of Cincinnati, just because I felt like I couldnt get into NC State. Now, I think things have changed!

Congratulations for getting into your dream reach school! I love to hear news like this. You got what you dreamed of and that must be feeling very good right about now. I hope you celebrated big time. WooooHOooooooo
It is a fine school and don't begin the process of comparing yourself and your dream school to other programs......it serves no purpose. You got in, it is a great school and be proud and confident. Do well when you show up on campus and always remember that without having exposed yourself to rejection you wouldn't be celebrating today. Good job Jethro.

Congratulations! It's a wonderful feeling getting into your dream school.

And on a side note- you should really take what people say on this site with a grain of salt, especially the what are my chances? Don't let them get you down.

Congratulations!
I also agree with scarletleavy. The few adcoms on this site aren't telling people their chances. Everyone else is just reading tea leaves.

It's great that you followed -- and got -- your dream. :)

P.S. There are plenty of public and private colleges that accept people with your stats. Some will even give students like you merit aid.

Jethro, I love hearing success stories like yours. Great going! Your weighted GPA is generally a better predictor of your success in college and I think the decision makers took that, among other things, into account.

Thanks a lot guys, I appreciate it. I have another question. If my grades slip a little, nothing drastic, but like this year Im not doing that great, like a 3.4 instead of my average 3.7...do you think they will revoke my acceptance? If not, how low do you think I would need to go for them to do that. (Im not testing their limits, Im just curious. Im still gonna do my work)

No easy answer. Figure out why you're not doing well and try to fix it. If it's tutorial help, get it. If it's motivation, work on it - your motivation will be severely tested in four years of college. The habits you develop now will stand you in good stead in the future.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!
How wonderful for you. My friend's son is a freshman at NC State from OOS, and he couldn't be happier. He has made many friends, he loves the campus, etc etc etc.

And thanks Zuma. Its basically because of 1 class...Ive never gotten a C in my life and Im really gonna get one in this class. If it wasnt for that, my GPA would be fine. But do you really think getting a 3.7 for my first three years, and 3.4 in my senior year, still having a 3.5-6 is gonna hurt drastically?

Marketing. I thought Cincinnati was my school because of this being my reach school, but now Im in here. I can also claim residency with my brother down there and save 12,000 a year tuition. its 15 out of state and 3,900 in state. Cincinnati was 21 out of state, and I feel Id get a better education at NC State...right? lol

haha yeah you were right. Im serious in this though guys...If my grades slip a little will they revoke my acceptance? Im really getting nervous. Im not doing that great this year caz of this honors meteorology class Im taking. Yes...honors meteorology. Its impossible, Im gonna get a C in it, first ever. I have an A in marketing, advertising, psychology, and gym. a B in English and AP Stats, and a C in meteorology. am I screwed?

I don't think one C will kill you. That said, try to bring it up next semester. There's plenty of great study tips on CC if you search for them.

A C in meteorology isn't surprising- I recently read a book on basic meteorology, and there was a heck of a lot more math than involved than I expected.
