WOW. I put the wrong Social Security # on EVERY one of my apps...

<p>So, today I had the extreme pleasure of discovering that I have been proliferating the wrong social security number my entire life, including on my 8 college applications. First off, can this be corrected? Anyone done this before? Should I just contact the admissions office for each school? </p>

<p>In case you're wondering, the schools are:
Notre Dame (already been accepted)
Georgia Tech (accepted)
Vanderbilt
Duke
Harvard
Princeton
Yale
Dartmouth</p>

<p>Okay, I’m relieved. I’ve contacted most of the schools. They all said no big deal, just e-mail them the proper number, which I did.

<p>why does each college ask for you for a SSN in the first place? like sometimes its on a supplement and its not even required? whats the point of even asking???</p>

<p>I’m wondering the same thing. Like I mentioned in my last post, the colleges said it’s no big deal… One school (Princeton, maybe?), said they don’t even review the SS# in the application process. I guess it’s only needed if they accept you…just a speculation.</p>

<p>It’s part of the (need based) financial aid process.</p>
