I've been pretty disappointed with my admissions results... how about you??

So far:

Lafayette College - Waitlisted
College of William and Mary - Waitlisted
Pitzer College - Denied
Hamilton College - Waitlisted
Christopher Newport University - Accepted (Honors and Leadership Programs)
Colgate University - ???????
Whitman College - ???????

It's been a record-setting year for number of applications everywhere I've applied!

i'm actually really suprised i got in all the schools i've applied so far. I was totally putting NYU and Emory as super reaches and I got in both....maybe i should've aimed higher and applied U Penn or something. Oh, if i get in Cornell tomorrow I'm definitely going to be mad for not aiming harder.

I've heard that this year is the most difficult year yet since colleges have recieved a record-breaking amount of applications (at least for the colleges in CA.)

I'm not too disappointed with my admissions yet, but I still have 4 schools to go.

No surprise that it's a tough year to get into colleges. Due to the size of the echo boom, each year until about 2011 is expected to be more difficult for college admissions.

I predict an Ivy bloodbath. Early word from admissions from my Ivy alma mater is that 1 in 20 applicants from my area were accepted.

My friend just got rejected from CMC... The college's admittance rate was only 16% this year... Dropped 6%, it was originally 22% (according to college board). Too bad

Yea my friend just rejected from Davidson. I know its extremely selective, but I thought her stats would be good enough for the school, sad really.

I've been getting terrible results as well! It seems that almost everywhere I've applied is getting record amounts of applications, and I'm even getting waitlisted from safeties!

yeah, rejection stings..so far:
Rejected at Duke [ this really hurts..I loved the school]
Waitlisted at Wellesley, Barnard
and also rejected from Smith

looks like McGill is a real possibility now...oh well it's a cool school

Yah, I know how you feel. I got these results:

BU - Waitlisted
Northeastern - Waitlisted
Hampshire - Waitlisted
Clark University - Accepted w/ $
Bard Collge - Accepeted
UMASS Amherst - Accepted
Tufts University - Rejected

Hampshire, BU, and Northeastern were supposively matches, with Northeastern being closer to a safety. Heck, Hampshire told me the single reason I was waitlisted was because my analytical graded assignment could have been better. The rest of my application was great, they said. I couldn't even get in with a paper that was the only A for an Oedipus paper in my AP English class? Wow. I suck. I knew I should have applied EA to NEU and Hampshire.

Whatever...Bard is better than all of them.

hey so what about the following...i made a separate post but not many responses. I just want to hear what people have to say.

So when do the colleges figure that they will address the problem that every year they have more and more kids applying. Eventually they will be rejecting even some of the people they accepted now because they were not the best but still great but now there is no room for them.

i just feel horrible cause both of my non acceptances have stated we had a huge turnout this year...more than usual. No i am not asking to go to those schools, but that excuse is going to become a problem.

One other thing i see is that colleges tend to let in way too many people with subpar stats in ED. yes i understand they really want to go, but what about the people who apply RD and have the normal stats they look for.

Yes, i am a bit mad because of yesterday and i dont see how tonight will be any better. But these are 2 serious problems, none of which have yet to be addressed and what will happen is one year they will ruin the admission process for good

Yeah really! I got into Lehigh honors and dean scholarship, but im 3rd in my class. The girl who's 18th and the guy who has above a 1450 old sat both got waitlisted =/

Yeah, these college decisions are really scary. I mean, I feel like a lot of good, hard-working, active people are getting rejected from schools that they would definitely be accepted to last year.

I got into Geneseo, Clark, and Drake. Waitlisted to Brandeis (real suprise, it was a target school for me) and rejected from Oberlin. I'm now really afraid that I won't get into any other school, even though I have 5 more to hear from.

I got into my safeties, Hartwick, Ithaca and Geneseo, although now I'm realizing Geneseo was probably more of a match (they said they got 11,000 applicants for 900 something spots), although I got invited to the honors program.

But I just got waitlisted from Vassar and I'm devastated. I thought that out of the four schools I have left to hear from I had by far the best chance of getting in there. So now I'm not excited at all for the last three.

If I get enough aid I'll go to Bard. Clark gave me $14700 in a scholarship, so I need to get atleast enough aid to bring me to my EFC from Bard.

Penn State - Accepted (Attending)
University at Buffalo - Accepted
Embry-Riddle - Accepted
University at Colorado-Boulder - Accepted
Purdue - REJECTED
Virginia Tech - PENDING

I'm suprised I got in to so many schools on my list.
