saw this in the columbia thread....do you think its all possible?? I've heard that people post things just to make you feel hopeless, but if this is real...WOW...

I disregard these dumb posts. Whoever has the time to type all this garbage up obviously doesn't have time to even do all of that stuff listed. Well, maybe. It's a waste anyway. Everyone knows that no one can tell you if you're going to get in or not. People are either just bragging, or they're trying to make people feel bad. Either way, you suck if you make a post like this.

well, the academics dont seem fake, after all those are more than attainable(as i feel all academics are) but the ec's seem a bit, shall we say, fake? or embelished at least, a true overacheiver could pull off something close tho

wow, that must take up a lot of time.

i didn't read most of it, i just saw that it was really long

That person has good scores, which are realistic, but some of those clubs must be really easy to be on

"saw this in the columbia thread....do you think its all possible?? I've heard that people post things just to make you feel hopeless, but if this is real...WOW..."

okay....

so this isn't even YOUR stuff. you're just posting it on here, trying to make people "feel inferior"?

ugh. it's sad that you even bother to read posts like this and to contaminate other forums with this info.

perhaps thats why I was asking others if something like this could exist.

I don't see how I'm making others inferior, when I'm trying to get peoples opinions to show that this is actually an example of overexaggeration.

Sadly, YOU did not understand my point.

When will people get it through their heads that NO ONE on these boards can truly predict our chances with even a semblance of accuracy? How can I tell someone else chances, when I'm just as qualified and may (or may not) be accepted? Please, stop wasting CC's server space.

Everything together seems attainable. I have gotten a lot of those things on the list, and they don't really mean that much. Grades are realistic, and in EC clubs in some schools, even being an officer doesn't require a lot of commitment. Some things don't even need to be mentioned, like the nomination to NYLC, getting an A on NYSSMA- as I've said, don't mean much. Being ranked 8th nationally in the Nat'l Fr. Contest is not impressive, considering that ranks are shared (i.e. the highest he/she could have gotten on the exam is a 92) The only that I find to be unrealistic is that he/she seems to have swiped all of the teacher-nominated science awards at the school. In my school, you don't get nominated for all even if you deserve them over others because they try to spread the wealth around.

All I can say is INHUMAN

My serious concern is that a person doing all this has no time for family, informal interactions with friends,or time to develop his/her own context.
I sure hope the kid gets in because it is obviously his/her entire life focus.
I don't think Ivies are doing society any good by rewarding that kind of list building. Did this kid ever play a round of spin the bottle?

Well I hope that is not the "ideal ivy-league student" because if so, I'm going to a community college.

Why would you ever wanna be this guy. He is probably the driest person in the world and everything he did is common. I don't see a hook but he would get into anywhere in the country.

yuck, but he seems so boring.

I dunno...seems kind of "bs" to me.

And is it just me, or does she come off as a white female?

Yes. (10 Character Limit)
