WP On Transcript?

Hi,
I am currently taking AP Music Theory, and I'm so unhappy with it. I have lots of music experience, but the teacher is bad at explaining and the textbook isn't helpful. Although I have a B-, I can see the possibility of my grade dropping since my last test grade was a C-.

I'm a sophomore in HS, taking: AP US history, AP chemistry, Algebra 2A/Trig, French III Honors, English Honors, and Speech and Health (which are average level, but are necessary to take sophomore year in order to graduate). I'm doing very strongly in all of those classes, As in each so far. I'm looking into applying to direct medical programs and Ivy League/Top Selective schools. Since, I want to be in medicine; I don't think this fine arts class will be a big thing?

I visited my counselor about dropping Music Theory, he said they may find it slightly bad, but he believes my other classes will shine through (I got all As in mostly honors in freshman year). I wanted to get your opinions on taking the WP. Thanks so much in advance! I need to make a decision ASAP, or else if I wait too long it's a WF (factored into GPA as an F...) I really appreciate it. :)

PS: If this is in the wrong forum, I apologize. My first time on here.

Hey, I need to make a decision by the end of this week or early next week. I really need some pointers. Thanks.

What are you going to take in lieu of AP Music Theory? I think it depends more. Would you be taking another Honors/AP class?

Most probably another honors/AP class, I’ll have to decide after dropping.

Since your grade in the class may drop to a C, I would recommend withdrawing in this case. Usually I would tell someone considering doing so to stick it out, but if this is the only WP on your record and you can take another honors class in place of it, you should be fine, especially if you aren’t looking to major in music.

Best of luck!

Thank you! Really helps me.
