I'd like to hear from any current/former WPI students about Naval ROTC. I know I missed the deadline for WPI AND NROTC, but I could always transfer next year if I don't like UMASS. I'm premed, and at first I disreguarded WPI's NROTC because I need the highest GPA I can achieve for medical school.

Now, how difficult is WPI? (scale of maybe community college to MIT.) I was afraid of the workload at WPI, but paired with doing NROTC how bad would it be?

And, if anyone could answer: is NROTC the best path to be a Naval doctor? Or should I hold off until after undergrad to start my process to joining the Navy?

Naval ROTC is hosted by Holy Cross. I know a couple of WPI students who do it and find it to be quite demanding (obviously). But I’m sure you would be happy at UMass; it isn’t a good idea to enter college with the idea of transferring.

Science and engineering majors are challenging no matter where you go and UMass (I am assuming that this is UMass-Amherst), as a Tier I research university, is no exception. Getting a medical school worthy GPA needs a lot of hard work at any challenging university. The overall difficult of WPI depends on the major. I am a sophomore electrical engineering major and would say that the difficulty is probably around 7 or 8 in your scale (though I don’t know how difficult MIT or community college are).
