WPI vs. Northeastern for getting into Grad School

I am stuck between NU and WPI as a mech eng major. I want to get a quality education but I also want to have fun in college. I did a summer camp at WPI and from what I have seen and heard it is split between the jocks and the nerds so I don't think that I would enjoy it as much as I would as NU (being mostly guys doesn't realy help either).
After talking with my Dad who is the Director of Engineering at his company he said that they look more at where you went to grad school then undergrad school, so what I want to know is how do the grad school opportunities compare between the two? I'm assuming that WPI's prospects would be better but would I be shooting myself in the foot by going to NU? How do grad schools view co-ops as opposed to projects, or do they weigh them the same? I know NU has a nice MS/BS program that I would do but I don't know if WPI has one.
