Wpi vs umass amherst

I believed many of you guys already see this compassion hundred of times but here I am trying to decide which one I should go.

For wpi, they are giving me 30k a year, leaving me having to pay about 30k If I live in dorm and 15k if not in dorm. I do like the small-campus feeling in wpi and I guess wpi is a little bit better reputed? I kinda like wpi better just in terms of smallness and stem-oriented.

For umass,
Since my dad works as a feeder all technician, so I basically don’t have to pay all the tuition(covered by government since it’s a state school), dorms should be covered by scholarship and etc. In addition, I also got into honors college in umass(I am not entirely what advantages that gives me actually)

So I’m majoring in mathematics in both school( possible change of majors because I didn’t have a major in mind when I was applying)
So I was wondering could anyone here give me some advice on what school to pick and some knowledge about the commonwealth honors college, and I know umass sounds way better in terms of finance but I just couldn’t decide… Thx guys

If taking away any financial factor, given the situation above, which one should I choose

If 30k is affordable, and you prefer it, choose WPI.

Thx for the reply:) and in the original post and It should read “federal” instead of “feeder all” lol

Not sure WPI is worth that amount of debt. If you go to UMass, you can also take classes for no extra cost (ie., FREE for you) at Amherst College, Smith College, Hampshire College and Mt. Holyoke College if you want to spend some time on a smaller campus.

Thx:) could u tell me anything about umass’s honors college. I actually don’t know much about it?

Does your dad’s work cover fees too? At UMass, tuition is actually very small (<$2k/yr). Most of the cost is in fees. Honors college also actually adds a slight additional cost.

Most of the time an honors college is a smaller community within a large school - although I don’t know about UMass-Amherst honors college specifically. Have you tried asking on one of the UMass forums?
