Wright Large Double - worth extra cost?

My daughter and her roommate have been assigned to Wright for the Fall in a large double. It is a typical Wright double room (12x15) with a smaller attached room 8'10"x15'6". The extra space seems appealing, but the price is not. The double rate is $5273 and she is being charged $6855 for the larger double. That's about the price of a single in Teter. It seems like a large additional fee for an older, non air conditioned room even with the extra space.

Here's my question - is this worth it? Anyone familiar with these rooms or Wright doubles in general and have an opinion?

She doesn't mind Wright (no a/c and all) and likes her roommate, so it's a little tricky just to ask for another room. And who knows if anything is even available at this point. She specifically asked for no "enhanced" housing bc of cost, but this is not considered enhanced just more expensive. I guess in older days it was a triple room.

Thanks.

Wow, didn’t know those existed. Biggest worry for me is that they would still stick another person in there. Hate to say that my DD would have loved to have that room assignment, it would solve a lot of our planning problems. But as a freshman parent I understand that cost pretty much rules our lives! Have they tried putting in for a room change? She must have went in with an identified roommate to already know who it is?

She met her roommate on the Roommate Sync on Facebook and RPS confirmed to me that they are roommates when I called to question the price of her room. They also said there is no chance of a 3rd person being added. These rooms are strictly doubles now. I think she’ll appreciate having the extra space and her roommate does not want to change rooms. She would, but prefers not to. We were just shocked at the price, because no where on the RPS website does it even mention rooms like this in Wright. I guess we’re going to suck it up and just pay for the additional room.

That is a huge difference in price. Doesnt seem right

Yankees,
Thanks - I am glad I am not the only one who thinks so!

Honestly, I know the cost sucks, but due to the fact they have to put students in overflow housing each year, you are probably going to just have to bite the bullet and deal with it. There’s just no place else to put people

Think issue is that they were not prepared for the additional cost, not about actually housing.

Make your petition based upon the financial consideration. It works for DS1.

Absolutely, my only concern is cost. It’s a great set up with 2 rooms.
