Wright State University

Any thoughts on Wright State University for Mechanical Engineering? Their scholarships look fantastic, but I wonder how strong their program is, and how the job market looks for their graduates compared to Univ of Cincinnati and OSU.

Is it ABET accredited? If so, then it should be a solid program. Seriously, Wright State has a pretty good reputation in general and if it is the most affordable option which will get you to a degree with the least debt, then go for it. A lot of the undergraduate education is what you put into it. Take the most rigorous course load and get plenty of research experience and internships and you will be fine.

Wright State is ABET accredited. It is a suburban campus with a lot of the students commuting. It also has strong ties with Wright Patterson Air Force Base. You might have to work harder to get a co-op position than say at U of Cincinnati and it won’t have the name recognition of tOSU, however, I believe the education you get will be fine. You may need to be more proactive at creating opportunities than say at UC or tOSU, however, they will be available to those who seek them. Because of the AF base and the presence of Honda Dayton tends to be a pretty good place to be an engineer.
