Today I made a really bad mistake and I cussed in class and my teacher freaked out and wrote me up and now I have a detention and a write-up on my permanent record. Will colleges be able to see this write up? I asked my principal and he said know but I'm going to go back into tommorow because I want to apply to some very competitive colleges and If they found out I had a discipline issue could they reject me because of my SINGLE infraction? I'm really scared does anyone have any insight?

relax. you’re fine.

do ivies look at write-ups?

You’re worrying too much. If you get denied at an Ivy…it’s not going to be because you accidentally slipped and said a “naughty word” in class one time.

Here’s an ex-felon that went to prison, and later got into Brown, and is now in Yale Law.

You’re fine. I doubt that this is even something that will be on your “permanent record.”
