Writer's Block and Some Important Questions about the Common App Essay

<p>Some things have come up that I wish to talk about: </p>

<p>1.) I am suffering from writer's block. I want to write about topic #5: "describe a person who has an influence on your life and describe that influence, but I remember reading some article that states that talking about someone who has been so impacting is clich</p>

<p>It is legitimate to discuss the person who has influenced you. Nothing cliched about it. The same essay is just fine -- remember its called the CommonApp. It would be awkward to have your English teacher review it if he is the person you are writing about. However, if he is your mentor, then it may make sense. You are the best judge.</p>

<p>I'm very unsure about it. </p>

<p>I've been at the computer screen for several days now, trying to puzzle this through. How do I overcome this writer's block before Dec. 19th (the last day of school before Christmas break, which ends Jan. 5th, four days after the deadline for three colleges I'm applying to? My English teacher hates using technology; he's about 65-years-old)?</p>
