writing 20 or seminar first

Would you suggest (if there were no scheduling conflicts) taking the writing 20 course in the fall that you wanted and leave the seminar of your choice for the spring? Or vice versa?

I think this is in a previous post, but:

I always suggest taking writing 20 first. It gets you into the mode of writing you'll use throughout college. More importantly though, it's nice to have it done in the Fall. Both writing 20 and freshman seminars are typically fairly easy classes. Writing 20 just typically has more work (papers, obviously). I'm really glad I did 20 in the Fall. Who wants to be writing papers when you can be having fun in K-Ville?

I answered this once before, but I'll give you a short answer again.

I actually found the seminar to be harder with more work, and I learned just as much about writing in the seminar (although it was considered a "writing-intensive" seminar). You should take whatever topic interests you most, whether it's a writing 20 or seminar - don't pick a writing 20 that doesn't interest you just because you think it might be helpful to take writing 20 first.

thanx for the suggestions... Theres 2 writing seminars that sound intresting to me, If i cannot get one of those in my schedule for fall i will prob. try for the seminar that interests me rather then settle for any writing 20

yeah-- my seminars were much more work (and much more interesting) than my focus writing 20 (i even took a freshman seminar outside of focus in the spring). my writing 20 did nothing for my writing in college, so while there's a strong argument that it does get you into the writing for college frame of mind, it may not be the case if your prof is looking for something v. picky.

honestly, take whatever interests you more.
