<p>So I didn't pass the writing test in May and was reccomended for Writing 37 which is intensive writing. I signed up for it at SPOP this weekend, but am wondering is it really a more work than other writing classes? It's 6 units instead of 4 so I have a total of 14 units. My schedule is Writing 37, Econ 20A, Math 1B.</p>
<p>Should I stick with this writing or switch to 37A? I guess the positive with this is I essentially get 2 quarters of writing done in one.....</p>

<p>For the Writing series, you have two choices:
1) Writing 39A + 39B + 39C
2) Hum Core 1A + 1B + 1C</p>
<p>Basically, Writing 37 is 39A + 39B in one quarter. I've heard (can't personally verify) that it's not much worse. It would save you another quarter of writing so that is why I would take it.</p>
<p>i took writing 37 and got a c- so i had to start over with the writing series. i don't recommend taking 37 unless you are a really good writer. plus if you get a C in writing 37 then the next class you HAVE to take is writing 39C which i've heard is very very hard due to the fact that your entire grade is based on 2 essays. </p>
<p>I recommend, taking writing 39A then writing39B (get a B or above in writing 39B) then you can take writing 30 or 31 which are easy A poetry and fiction writing classes. This way you don't have to deal with writing 39C and you fulfill your writing requirements. :D that's the path that i took . </p>
<p>Also, greensam88, since this person has not passed the writing test, then he/she cannot take the hum core series.</p>

<p>I was in the same position last year, take 37 or 39A. I decided to take 37 and it was a great decision. Writing 37 was tough, I worked my butt off and got a B, but it's MUCH better than having to take Writing 39A and 39B. I think we wrote one more essay than my friends who were taking 39B at the time so it's not much more work than your typical writing class.</p>
