WRITING 39B or Humanities 1A

WRITING 39B or Humanities 1A?

Which class is better/easier?

i heard humcore was hell.

Hum Core is a lot of work but a good class.

So if you want to start college off by taking the easy way out, then go for writing. But if you actually want to learn something, then take Humanities.

definitely take hum core. It will save you tons of time as well, fulfulling 7 classes in 3.

Hum Core is tough, but it will pay off in the end. Writing, as mentioned above, is the easy way out.

Could someone enlighten us more on the Humanities Core and what gives it its notoriety of being difficult? What makes it hard: the coursework or the test/quizzes?

Humcore:
-lots of reading( about 1 book per week)
-3 essays in a quarter(4-6 pages essay every 3-4 weeks)
-an in-class midterm and final (consists of 6-8 questions and 1-2 essay)

You have to really understand the book, reading a summary/sparknotes won't help because you have to really analyze it and connect it to other books.
If you get a good discussion leader, he/she will explain in detail all you need to know that you can usually get away without reading the book.

does humanities 1A include the lecture/discussion AND writing or just the former?

1 book a week? Are you serious? >_> What kind of books exactly..

last years books were antigone, king lear, some sigmund freud book, **** like that
