BUMP

Also, what is the error in this sentence?

We shine brighter than the sun.

I, personally, think there is a comparison error because we (object) shine brighter vs The sun (object)…

Shouldn’t it be - We shine brighter than that of the sun?

no its not an comparison error if it is a comparison error it will be like Our shine is brighter than that of the sun

Seriously, where did ‘our’ come from?

i think it should be: “We shine more brightly than the sun.”
this is since “to shine” is a verb and therefore requires an adverb.

Arg, this is awful. So much confusion. @IBNick: I know where you are heading ‘more’ because we are comparing two things, not more than that or else it will be ‘most.’
