I am a college student looking to apply for summer internships. I currently attend community college but I am transferring to San Jose State University in the Fall. I was accepted into the Finance program. The only real job retail experience I have is working at Starbucks. I need help starting a cover letter for a community college student like me… I’d really appreciate it.

I should also state that i’m transferring with a business administration and economics associate degrees.

Focus on how your education and interests can bring some value to the internship position you are applying for. You can also focus on personal characteristics that are relevant to your field. For example, you can talk about your accuracy and dependability by tying it into a detailed or difficult project from school. I’m not in the field of finance, so I can’t offer more specific advice, but I think you can still write a good cover letter if you can demonstrate desirable skills and education. Be sure to tailor each cover letter to the specific job you’re applying for.
