Actually, I'm a freshman in college looking to transfer. I was accepted to my second choice school and waitlisted to my first choice "dream" school. Anyway, I am pursuing the waitlist and I would like to write a letter to the school to update the adcom on my grades/accomplishments over the past semester.

My question is to whom do you address the letter? What is the basic form that the letter should take?

I think first you have to determine if the school will accept a letter, or if they will only accept your grades from spring semester. Some schools will not look at any additional information, so find that out first.

bump? I really need to know who to write the letter to

Did you send a letter saying you wanted to remain on the waitlist? If so, send the letter to them. If not, send the letter to the person to whom you sent or would have sent a paper version of your transfer application.

I'd put the letter in the form of a 5 paragraph essay. Intro, point one, point two, point three, conclusion. I'd keep it to one page.

A brief email updating the college admissions committee on your continued interest as well as any updates to your acomplisments after submitting your application should sufice.
