Writing about a fictional character..?

Hi!
So for one of the colleges I’m applying to, one of the prompts is: Describe a character in fiction, a historical figure, or a creative work (as in art, music, science, etc.) that has had an influence on you, and explain that influence.
I picked a fictional character, as I used to read a lot of books when I was a kid, so I thought I could focus on a fictional character I used to read about a lot and explain how they helped me become more confident/braver. But now I’m not sure if that’s an ideal prompt. Do you guys have any tips on how to approach this question, and develop an essay well? Or should I pick another prompt?

If the fictional character has had an influence on you, then it sounds fine. They wouldn’t put the prompt as an available choice if it wasn’t one they wanted you to answer. I probably wouldn’t choose like Spongebob Squarepants as my fictional character, but if you have someone in mind, I’m sure you can make a fine essay out of it.

Okay! Thanks for the input(:

Would anyone be willing to read it? I just wrote it and revised it, but I’m a bit unsure if it’s still a good enough choice. I could really use the input!
