Writing about extracurricular activities

When writing for the question “Please briefly elaborate on one of your extracurricular activities or work experiences” would it be better to write about my wrestling experience this year or my recent founding of chess club? My normal common app essay is about wrestling but it focuses on my experience starving and dehydrating myself and the lessons I learned from it. However, for this prompt I would write about having to literally coach our team because our coach has never wrestled before and knows nothing about the sport. Would writing about two different aspects of wrestling hurt me? Should I just write about chess club?

So you’re writing two different essays in response to two different prompts. But you’d like to use the same general topic, but not the same essay.

I don’t see a problem, as long as you absolutely, 100% don’t repeat anything.

The thing is, this is where your heart leads you. Unless you’re a dumbass, you’ll probably write better essays for that reason. So do it.

Thank you!
