Something that does not really come through in my CommonApp is my drive to write - but the thing is, most of what I write (at this point in time, anyway) is fanfiction. Would colleges see this in a negative way, or would it be something that sets me apart? Through fanfic I've met awesome people, improved my writing, improved my skills in terms of critical analysis and generating ideas.

If I get all of that across, will they take me seriously? Or will they just think I'm wasting my time writing things that don't matter? Am I better off just writing about writing in general?

My alternative is to talk about theatre, but I figure a lot of kids will be talking about that - I want to show them I'm different.

(Also, I feel it's important to note I plan on going into some sort of film/television program, so I think this topic is definitely relevant...)
