writing about middle school experiences? awful idea?

<p>I was thinking about writing about a time in middle school where i basically ditched my friends and tried to be popular, and writing a reflection about that kind of</p>

<p>I can't really explain it well haha</p>

<p>I have a super rough draft that's not really edited/complete but it has some some opening paragraphs/ideas for closings, would anyone be willing to read it and tell me if I'm going in a good direction or if it will be a trainwreck?</p>

<p>I'd prefer adults/high school grads but am not too picky! thank you so much!</p>

<p>second, you better have a GOOD "i learned a lesson" type of reflection, because i don't think colleges will jump at the opportunity to accept a student that tries to follow the crowd and is unloyal to friends. remember, colleges want individuality!</p>

<p>I started by writing about my middle school journal and how embarrassing it is, but then focused it more on like what I was writing about and why it's embarrassing</p>

<p>erhm, i don't think you should take the embarrassing spin on your essay. </p>

<p>i feel that if you did, it'd lack a "so what". SO WHAT that you ditched your friends? SO WHAT that you tried to be popular? so what? does it impact the decisions you make now? did it change you in any way? how did that experience influence you?</p>

<p>colleges aren't just looking for ANY event in your life. they're looking for a turning point in your life, like a significant event that made you the way you are now.</p>

<p>sorry I don't think I'm explaining it very well. I don't really want to like, try to explain it because I'll feel lame haha but I can PM it to you when I have a rougher draft, I think it makes sense when it's all laid out.</p>
