I was trying to avoid writing about my close friend’s suicide because I didn’t want to use it for an application but when I sit down to right it keeps feeling like the right issue to talk about. Do you think this could work? I have a semi draft I would love if someone could take a look at. Thanks
Your other thread includes some “most competitive” colleges. While writing about a friend’s death seems important to you, you want to consider whether this is best topic for a college application review. They’re looking for certain strengths, personal attributes, a sort of student who will not only thrive in their communities, but add to the whole. You need to look for and consider what those attributes are, for those top colleges. Then, if you can show that in the writing, it may be fine. But this isn’t an ordinary writing assignment.
I’d say that if it is really important to your explanation of who you are, then include it.
