Does anyone have experience with schools that have applicants write during their interview visit? Does the school give the topic to write about or have the student come up with one and if the school does, is the topic like those on the SSAT or different? Does the writing take place after the interview while the parents meet with the adcom?

One of our s's aps does not include an essay, so we think this school may be one of those. Any advice?

Middlesex gives an essay to the prospective students during the interview.

My duaghter had to write an essay on the spot for St. Andrew's in Delaware. She interviewed first and while we met with the Director of Admissions, she wrote an essay. Sorry, I can not remember what the topic was but think it had something to do with people important to you, because I remember she wrote about her older sister.

I had to write a essay at one of the day schools I was applying to in Washington D.C., at least my experience was that it's not really a "big deal" essay, more like a page or 3/4 of a page about topics such as:
How would your friends and family describe you?
What is your greatest dream or aspiration? Why?
What makes a hero? Who do you think is a hero?
