Writing Courses

I'm a freshman looking for an easy writing credit. Bonus points if it is interesting material. Even if you don't recommend the class, what would you say is the easiest WR?

I heard mixed reviews about 114 and the ones I found interesting for next semester conflict with other courses.

120 was pretty easy and fun.

^While I greatly enjoyed Engl 120, I doubt that’s the easiest WR credit. I think you have to be someone who enjoys writing for that to be an easy course, and I’m guessing that wouldn’t fit what the OP’s looking for. Try looking in other departments besides English. My dean sent out an email with suggestions including the following (not chosen for “easiness,” but just to show the variety of courses that count for WR).

If you still have your blue book, try picking a few departments you’re interested in and find WR credits in them. Then you can look up the course evaluations to see whether past students thought the writing part was easy.

I think there’s a freshman seminar about genius in art that counts for writing. Not sure if the workload is easy but I took a similar class this semester and didn’t do much writing until the final paper.

yeah i heard 120 was actually really hard. I still haven’t found a good course yet, but got into a 114 course so I will at least shop that. any more suggestions outside of the english department would be helpful from people who have taken the class.

Micks123, how did you find out that you’re already in a 114 course? I haven’t been able to check yet. Thanks.

click on the link from George L again that let you rank, sign in, and your placement is in red.

It says access denied when I do that. That’s strange.

^ Said that to me too. Just go to the English department home page and find the pre-registration page and it should work.
