I got my results for my writing classes and I was just wondering which ones were like the low ones for people who are not good at writing and the classes that are offered for the people who are more skilled at writing. I know there are the obvious classes such as the honors and the classes that say for second language English speakers but I was just wondering what types of students are enrolled in these classes.
ENGL 01PA. Beginning Composition: Intensive
ENGL 001B. Intermediate Composition
ENGL 001C. Applied Intermediate Composition
ENGL 002. English Study Group
ENGL 004. English Writing
ENGL 004E. English Writing Hybrid

ENGL 004. English Writing
ENGL 004E. English Writing Hybrid
-A student enrolls in these two classes because when graders grade the exams, they feel as though you need help with grammar, sentence structure, etc. These two are taken at the same time. I am almost certain one is online. Lowest skills.
ENGL 01PA
-Graders feel as though you are almost ready for the English composition series (1A, 1B, 1C) but you need a little more work. Semi skills

Composition- College level skills
ENGL 1B
-An incoming student can be placed into this class only if they passed certain AP exams. Second class in the composition series.
ENGL 1C
-An incoming student can also be placed into this class if they passed certain AP exams. Last class in the composition series.

-The “lowest” level would be English 4, which a majority of incoming students are placed in. Then English 1PA, then the composition series.
-Depending on what you’re place in you will take these classes:
English 4/4E, English 1A, English 1B, English 1C
English 1PA, English 1B, English 1C

Thank you! So normally freshmen would be enrolled in either English 4 or English 1PA?

You’re welcome. Judging by the number of English 4 and English 1PA classes for Fall, a freshman would be more likely to be placed in English 4. You can look here: [UC Riverside - Schedule of Classes](<a href=“Select a Term”>http://classes.ucr.edu/)
