Writing for Screen and Television

Hey, Zelda, ZBR, and all of the other Screenwriting applicants of College Confidential. Finally, after being frightened after Zelda announced she could log on, and then ZBR could too...guess what: I JUST LOGGED ON TO EXLORE USC! WOW! I logged on three times because I couldn't believe it! but my name was there, and the possibility to reserve a seat was there too. WOW! So, what do we know from CNTV? Do they send a sepparate acceptance letter? PLEASE HELP US OUT, CNTV ADMITS!

Congratulations! They send a seperate acceptance letter. I just got my acceptance letter from USC, and my major says Undecided. The film school explained this to me yesterday, and they told me that they had just not finished reviewing my application yet. I hope this is true.

They told me I'd know by April 1st, which is a much more definite time frame than those they had given me in the past. Don't worry, we'll hear soon.

Thanks, that is comforting to hear

Yeah...I just got my acceptance letter from the Writing division yesterday... the USC admit packet came on Wednesday. It shouldn't be too long til you hear.

So who all got in? (Just joined this site... haven't read a lot of the stuff yet) It'd be nice to get to know some other ppl in the program.

I'm very nervous that they have sent out all the acceptance letters already, and I'm just going to get a rejection on April 1st. I really would like to be accepted to the program.

Does anyone know if this program is hard to transfer into, I wanted to apply but I didn't have much in the way of writing samples at the time, but I hope to switch to a double major w/this and creative writing at some point. Does anyone know how hard this would be to do?

Not to bring your hopes down, or be skepitcal, but it is especially complicated to transfer into this program.

As it is, CNTV only accepts roughly 24 undergraduate students into the program. There are no spring admits to this program, and I don't think there is a seperate pool of undergraduate transfer admits.

On the other hand, when I was doing the Meet USC program for film at USC, they explained that if you had not been accepted the first time you applied, you may reapply when you are able to. For screenwriting, this would be for the next fall semester. Of course, this was being directed to prospective applicants.

In my opinion, go for it. If you're unique and you stand out enough, you never know. But it will be very difficult.

TokenWhiteGuy, I'm also a screenwriting applicant. I just found out that I was accepted to USC, but I haven't heard from the film school. When you received your admission from USC, did they tell you that you were an undecided major because they were waiting to hear from film? Or did it say that you were majoring at CNTV?

Thanks for the response ZBR. So, am I right in thinking it's about the same level of difficulty transferring in as it would be when you first apply?

I think it would be a little more difficult to apply as a transfer because of the limited spots in the program. But, you never know.

Before I apply, should I contact the professors and ask what should I do since I want to add writing as my other major for double majoring but I plan on applying to usc for something else?

I just got my waitlist letter. Does anybody know what this means? Has anybody had experience with this? I can't tell if it is a good or bad thing. Any reccomednations for what actions to take at this point? Thank you.

ZBR that's not good....waitlist for the major? I wish you the best.....

Just wanted to update you all...

I got my acceptance letter for WST on Thursday....I was so excited, but am hesitant to sign the contract (BFA's suck....) and wonder how hard ti will be to double major...

But still, it's a great honor...and yay for tokenwhiteguy...we're one of the 24....i might see you in the fall :)

SHT! I called the admissions office and the fact that I am down in Mexico does not qualify me for a courier! Which means I will be getting my letters two or three or more weeks from now...Thank good for Explore USC....what was the date on your letter ZBR? I think they mailed them both, yours and mine at the same time, since Explore USC was unlocked at the same time, when was it postmakred? What about yours Zelda?

my CNTV letter was postmarked March 22, and my packet was postmarked the 20th

wait, do you LIVE in mexico? or are you on vacay?

I live down here

Ok, this is a relief. I just called the department to ask about the whole waitlist procedure, and the first thing they said was "Congratulations!" Apparently, everyone on the waitlist got in last year. They keep it short enough so this is possible.

So, there is still hope, and I am very excited.

Congratulations! Now, I just have to die waiting for the next three weeks
