Writing/Humanities - Contests, Awards, Recognition?

I'm painfully unaware of the undoubtedly huge list of awards and contests for students whose focus lies primarily in the humanities, particularly writing and literature.
For this reason, I'm sure it would be beneficial to the many liberal arts-inclined high schoolers to compile a list of programs that might recognize their talents and interests.

Though the following is embarrassingly meager, below is my introductory list:

Scholastic Art & Writing Awards
National History Day
Leonard Milberg '53 Secondary School Poetry Prize

I'll edit this post with all suggestions provided. Because I write, I'm most excited about discovering new writing contests, but please, all humanities are welcome! :)

This is a GREAT thread! I really appreciate it!

Being published in Teen Ink?

In case lacrimosa needs any street cred, he/she’s a newly minted Scholastic WRAL gold key winner in poetry!

Program list, version #2:
Scholastic Art & Writing Awards
National History Day
Leonard Milberg '53 Secondary School Poetry Prize
Teen Ink publication

Thanks, rayna!
And thanks very much for the cred, straightoar, you’re too thoughtful  Congratulations on your WRAL Gold Key, as well! Quadruple street creds earned for entering and winning with multiple pieces.

No problem!

and congrats to both of you! i want to enter it next year =)

Stumbled upon several new contests. I obviously don’t have any insight into whether or not they’re legitimate, but onto the list they go!
